need help with Component Identification

I have found several electronic component search engines that will sometimes
provide data sheets for ICs but none that will help identify small
transistors, diodes, and other small devices.

Is there a web site that will have data sheets for small components like
transistors diodes and such? Data sheets that will list the power rating,
maximum voltage tolerance and other such useful information?

If anyone knows of such a site please respond.

If there isn't such a site maybe all us electronics people should combine
the results of our own experiments and create a website devoted to
electronics component identification.

Either way I am eager to here your replies. : )

www.datasheetarchive.com

www.nteinc.com will allow you to find a substitute that's "equal or
better".

If there isn't such a site maybe all us electronics people should
combine
