Hello,
I believe the reason the Invertor's fuses are blown is because these
CCFL lamps are aged...
And now that the new fuses are in place, I assume the reason I can only
get the briefest FLASH out of them is 'cause they are not starting.
And like any florecent lamp, darkness near it's edges is a bad sign,
indicating hours and hours of use, etc. Right?
Well these lamps have dark edges...
Worse yet is they require 8 lamps per display. And they are V-E-R-Y
difficult to get to, much less replace.
I have found two sources in the USA. One brand is JKL and they're even
sold through Digikey and Mouser. The second source sells direct.
China sources probably exist, but I am not aware. Anybody have any good
luck importing these?
The lamps I need are around 3.1mm diameter and 365mm long.
The second source sells a 2.6mm by 361mm lamp, and I am prepared to
order a set for testing on Monday. Unless you guys can steer me in a
better direction.
Mouser doesn't carry the size I need in a JKL, or I might give 'em a
try. Some JKL distributors want a 100 piece minimum order.
I expect I'll need between 64 and 80 of 'em so the 100 piece price break
is close at hand...
Anybody??
NEC WANTS TO BE UNHELPFUL... Hong Video Technology's buyer is a Witch
with a capital B... She really wants to be unhelpful! The only other
place NEC sends out of warranty customers to is called MWC in
California. What a neat scam THEY have... "Send us $50 and your monitor,
and we'll give you an estimate." So I told them the service I needed,
and suggested an estimate would be unnecessary. Just give me a price.
"No. We don't do that here."
WOW!
Send us your monitor, and a fifty. We'll tell you what it'll cost you to
get it back...!!
So all they have to do is tell you the cost to repair is too high, and
do you want them monitor back?
So most won't pay to have their hostage, I mean Monitor, shipped back to
them.
SCAM!!!
I wish I were a tiny bit more evil, and I would offer my extensive LCD
service experience for hire. Send me a fifty...
Okay I'm back...
Anybody have a solution for me?
I believe NEC used a higher grade of CCFL that these people bring in as
replacements. Why not keep the price down? Because I want quality. And
long life...
Especially concidering how much effort it is to do the labor!!!
Suggestions?
Sincerely,
Jack
