Does anyone know what brand of universal remote this is? Someone gave
it to me, and I do have a use for it, but need to know how to program
it.

I can't believe that the manufacturer/model is nowhere on the unit.
Check inside the battery compartment.

Is there a model number or some other identifying mark on the PCB?

OK, You're not gonna believe this, but I picked up a TV and remote that
a guy was giving away, and the remote has CCD Closed Caption Decoder
labeled on it. The TV is made by Memorex. The remote is not a URC, but
the coincidence that it would have that exact writing on it made me pass
the info along to you.

Maybe it will help you with yours,

p.s. The only thing on the back is "Made In Thailand", same as yours....

Does yours have a ?Code Set? button on the top right below ?Cable?? If it?s not
a universal, then what is that button for?

As I said, this one is not a Universal Remote. It is just a regular TV
remote for the Memorex TV. I saw the CCD Closed Caption Decoder line,
which seems to be a Memorex trademark, and I passed along that it might
be a Memorex remote. Memorex makes the One-For-All line of remotes too.

CCD is closed caption ( words on screen for the deaf )

What is special about that remote ?

Does that remote look anything at all like mine?

I have no idea what the CCD is, but while searching I found a remote -
a Sansui I believe - that also had the CCD on it. It looked nothing
like mine though.

I know what CC is, but why is CCD/Closed Caption Decoder written on
the remote?

And there in nothing special about it. Someone gave it to me (w/o the
instructions) and I want to use it for a TV that doesn't have a
remote.

If the remote has the "code set" button (all universal remotes have
such), it should cause the unit to scan its entire code library until
it finds the proper code to operate your device. The only downside is
that it can take up to 300 presses of the "power" button (after the
remote is in code search mode) to find the correct code. However,
without the instructions, this is only a guess at best. Some company,
somewhere, made your remote, so there should be a model number or some
type of manufacturer ID on the unit. I cannot believe your remote
doesn't show these numbers anywhere, unless they were removed or
rubbed off. Have you tried looking inside the remote? If you could see
the PC board, it may have some information as to who made the unit.
Many if not most of these universal remotes were made by a well-known
manufacturer and later rebadged for sale in discount stores.

A bit of digging on Yahoo turned up this information. Apperently Sansui
Emerson used the Logo in question instead of a brand name on the remote

If you can find some numbers in the battery compartment like
"TC2556DA" that should be it's model number.

This site will give you the codes for it. http://www.emersonremotes.com/

Good luck

Yes, but the one in the picture has a ?Code Set? button. If yours is the same,
then it should have that button, and if it is not universal, then what does that
button do? The only buttons I?ve ever seen on remotes with that label have been
for programmable remotes, almost always universal-ish; so I can?t imagine what
else it could be for.

OK let me try again to clarify.....

I have a remote from a Memorex TV that is NOT a Universal, but the CCD
logo and wording are IDENTICAL to the one in the picture. The actual
remote is nothing like the pictured one, but the IDENTICAL markings
probably indicate the manufacturer was the same for both units.

The same CCD markings are on the Memorex TV that this remote came with.

I posted the info to direct the OP to Memorex and/or One-For-All (a
Memorex company).

The OP's remote doesn't appear on the North American web site. FWIW, I
notice that the One-For-All remotes have an LED indicator but the OP's
remote doesn't appear to have one.

Thanks everyone!

Get this, it is a Orion, Memorex and Sansui, CCD remote control.

http://www.replacementremotes.com/store/productdetailp.cfm?productid=29745

Mine http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p96/bigelile/IM002448.jpg

I took it apart, there are 3 numbers, T36LDB, 3529BV (those are
stamped in ink) TS1111, 25-2053B are printed on the board.

None of those match the numbers for the model number at the above
link....weird.

MODEL:076R0DJ02B
SAME AS: 076RODJ02B

So it wasn't a universal remote in the ordinary sense.

Here is the answer to your "code set" question:

http://www.memorexelectronics.com/manuals/MT2327OM.PDF

10. CODE SET Button - Used to register the 2-digit codes to
operate your VCR or Cable/Satellite box. Press this button
and the VCR button or the CABLE button simultaneously to
start a registration (See instructions page 7).

Thanks!

I did a few searches but couldn't find the manual.

Looks like you can't use it with a different TV, but I'll give it a
shot anyway.
