mouse and keyboard output components?

I'm wanting to tinker with simulating mouse and keyboard (outputs from the
device....inputs to the computer). Are there any components out there that
will do this? I was thinking of driving them by either a PIC or one of
those "Embedded Linux on a chip" processors.
Thanks

Do you just want to hang a dummy keyboard and mouse off a server?

If so, then dismantle any old keyboard and remove the PCB. The
membrane types are probably the most convenient as the key matrix will
be attached via one or two connectors. Shorten the curly cord if
necessary and throw the PCB into a small project box. Do the same with
your mouse's innards.
