Microswitches for Summagraphics digitizer 16-button mouse

Hello all,

One of my customers uses several Summagraphics digitizer tablets since about
12 years and many of the microswitches in the mice became defective over
the last years.
I found replacement switches (not the original, but (almost) same
dimensions, it is the sort of switches used in normal PC - mice). The
problem is, that the lifetime of these switches is much shorter than the
original.
Does anybody know a source for the switches originally used in this mice?
They are about 6 * 6mm wide and 5mm high with 4 leads at the corners and
have 1 NO contact, which is connected to a pair of leads on each side. A
fifth lead connects to the metal case.

The microswitches I've seen in mice are fairly generic.

Have you checked the switch companies? Look up "switch" in the Digi-Key
website, and look for matches. Do the same with Google or AltaVista.
Once you find some part numbers you can check with the switch
manufacturer's sites for reliability information.
