MessageView 421F schematic

I have some sony portable speakers that take a 9V power supply, or 4 AA
batteries. Is it bad for them to use a 6V power supply (which works), and if
so, why? Cheers
4 AA batteries = 1.5X4 or 6V. So, 6V should work fine.

Hi,

You do know the 6805 processor is obsolete? I sell replacement parts
for them. If you want to I can email my customers to see if one of
them has it. Chances are not very high though.

Well, I changed the CRT and the problem is now gone. The mesh in
the old crt is distorted is my guess. Strange!

r

The mesh lens is a dome-shaped,very thin, fine screen, and if the scope
is shocked in certain axis, the lens could distort.Perhaps by setting
the
scope
down hard on it's end,in transporting it,but I am not certain of
that.

I am surprised how little there is to hold the crt in place. Changing
the CRT is about the easiest job in servicing that series.

r

It's important to not forget those corner cushions at the front of the
CRT.Some people seem to leave them out,but they protect the faceplate
from
cracking.
I put them back in and didn't lose any either. :)>)

After several years ANY brand of UPS will need new batteries. You
should initiate a scheduled maintainance service for all equipment if
you want it to operate reliably.

Find one using Sanyo cells in the battery. Sanyo make the best quality IMHO.
Not sure who uses them though!

What do you expect for a lifetime for those batteries anyway? What does
"several years" mean anyway?

As for myself, I pick up replacement batteries at an electronics flea
market for $4 each. No problemo! At a cost of about 20cents a day for
two batteries for a year, I have no problem with that. And the
replacements have lasted for "several years" already.

All batteries will fail after "several years."

Some UPSs (including some from APC) will periodically, or on command, do
a load test. Even then, all they can do is warn about a possible battery
failure, they can't prevent it.

Rather than buying new UPSs, just replace the batteries and recycle the
old ones.

Hello Pieter,

I know that HC05 MCU are not recommanded for new design, but I still work
with some old system that are using HC05, and I think this emulator could be
a good tool for them.

Best regards,
Claude.

One difference: Car battery is always being discharged/charged. Standby
battery is always being trickle charged.

Second difference: Standby battery is usually gel cell. Car battery is
liquid electrolyte.

Probably a lot more I haven't thought of.

Regarding APC supplies, I've actually had NO failures of this brand at all,
except for battery replacement. We must have about 40 of them, most in the
300-400VA category, but about 5 of the 1KW versions for server and telephone
system backup. I don't buy the replacement batteries from APC though, their
prices are a little inflated. McMaster Carr carries the correct batteries for
about 25% less.

Though APC doesn't recommend replacing the batteries on their older Back-UPS
models without the battery compartment door, I do it anyway. Average battery
life for the small units is 2-2.5 years, and on the large units, 3-4 years.

Radio shack makes them. Either does baseband, or baseband and S video

Cheap at the price, and will drive 3 televisions.

Does anybody know of a company that could build a ~100 mH variable choke,
in
moderately small quantities, say 900 per year. Or, does anybody know where
I
can buy an off-the-shelf part in these quantities?

Thanks for the lead, I'll check them out. We need about +/-5%.

These are used in classrooms, to teach students about phase shifts and tuned
circuits. We could adapt to a range of values, considering our generator is
limited to 20 kHz and lower.
