Not a bad little phone, BUT the battery is pretty hopeless,
doesn't last that long, and costs $49 for a new battery and
no one I can find supplies non genuine batterys.

Went a bit far when anyone locally and internationally can give your
ISP a IP number and a time and they have to provide your name and

Have enough trouble with my name in the "White Pages" and getting a
lot of convincing calls trying to get bank account details. Reached
the point where I don't really want a landline phone.

Quite a few I know have given up on their landline now,
just have mobiles. And some don't have any phone on
their landline they have to have for their ADSL service,
because the spam calls are a complete pain in the arse.

Just had someone who didn't realise they had a landline
when they wanted to complain to Telstra about a problem
with their adsl service and don't have a Telstra mobile to
call Telstra from. He borrowed a handset from work to
call Telstra for the cost of a local call.

Yes I also are reluctant to remove my name from "white pages" as still
get overseas straglers trying to contact me!
Much easier for me to call via Skype even Mobile and I do even local

My neighbour embezzled $2.5 million from NSFB, in ICAC investigation
he denied making statements on his mobile to another crim, ICAC played

ICAC played her recorded mobile conversation back as well.

tried ringing?
http://www.medion.com/au/
or
https://www.medion.com/mailing/company_au.php

Found it's complete name
Aldi/Medion E4002 (MD98388)

Yeah, I should have said that.

Suspect it's a rebadged "LG E4002"?

Where did you get that from ?

https://www.google.com/search?q=%22lg+e400%22+BATTERY&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

That's LG E400, which do you mean ?

"LG E4002"

Might be wrong late at night had a "Google" which seemed to say it
*maybe" the same phone?

Which one tho, E4002 or E400 ?

"LG E4002"

There is no such animal. There is an E400 tho and it does
have the same ma capacity. I should be seeing the physical
phone tomorrow or in a day or so.

There are some pictures of the battery in the google
search so I will compare it with the battery in the medion.
It belongs to one of the turks, so I can't check what it looks
like or what model number it has on the battery right now.

Another name was
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2209278
FWIW, the Medion is a rebranded S 1280 phone made by CEIEC.It is no
longer available.
Google search
http://bit.ly/1GzxBsP

Yeah, did find that one myself, but couldn't
find anyone offering batterys for it.

Couldn't find any specs for it either to compare
with the specs of the Medion to see if its accurate.

Seems many complained about faults with that Aldi Medion Mobile so
maybe can't be got, except for $49 Medion themselves plus postage!

Yeah, never found anyone claiming that it's the same battery
as in anything else. Time will tell if I can find one yet. I find it
hard to believe that its got a unique battery, but that's certainly
possible.

Islam is of course synonymous with terrorism
There are more Australian Muslims fighting with al Qaeda linked
groups than there are in the Australian Defence Force fighting against them!
..
Major majority of the worlds refugees are created by Islam since the
days of Mohammad. Mainly because Islam is actually a violent political
process, not a religion at all.
Islamic conquests have always been by infiltration (Trojan Horse:
Al-Hijra, The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration). This is how Islam
grows, a violent political process using , terrorist attack from
within, eventually followed by surprise attack, followed by killing
for killings sake.
Once Moslems have foothold maintaining rule is held by continued
carnage and ruthlessness.
Until it's recognized Islam is the problem nothing will change!

Much easier for me to call via Skype even Mobile and I do even local
calls!

Not if your phone has been stolen etc.

Bit unlikly to have both computer, NOTE2, and windows mobile taken.

Not everyone has their contacts on more than their mobile.

No use if you are away from home.

the point where I don't really want a landline phone.

Quite a few I know have given up on their landline now,

their landline they have to have for their ADSL service,
because the spam calls are a complete pain in the arse.

Just had someone who didn't realise they had a landline

Your local calls would be timed though.

In my case yes 2 cents a minute worldwide for landline 50 cent local
is 25 minutes via Skype.

No more charges if you pay au$123 a year for
connecting to/for landline's or mobiles worldwide.

That isn't available anymore.

was $100 a year but now costs $123 last time I looked

You don't get free calls to all mobiles and landlines world wide anymore.

Clearer than a analogue landline.

I don't get any difference.

My line is full of crackles and hisses?
Has been since Telecom put it in, in 1980?

Yes, you certainly have a problem. I don't get that on any landline I ever
use.

Legacy from Telecom days when suburb first built.
Government employees completely fireproof so managers would assign
yobbo's to the furthermost points in Sydney.
Fine days you would see telecom cable layers truck parked down from
pub. On wet days you might get a knock saying the can't connect
because of wet weather, then they would sneak back to pub.
Occasionally when supervisor came they would work badly till he went.

The only way I managed to get a what's offered Internet connection was
when EVERYONE was complaining and Telstra gave a "service manager"
email address. He came with two picked people and within 15minutes
probably less found my phone at "junction box" was wired wrong.

Since 1980 had 1000's of "linesmen" (like Mormons) mainly from Mecca
or Karachi turn up claim to of fixed it, but never did!

Just so much easier for me to use Skype on both SmartPhone
and Computer also because I use an encrypted VPN I cannot
be bugged/deciphered as yours is/can (My computer device,
only, decrypts, not likely anyone else can)

My neighbour embezzled $2.5 million from NSFB, in ICAC investigation
he denied making statements on his mobile to another crim, ICAC played
a recording back to him asking him, "Is this not you", he was gob
smacked! Same happened to a lawyer corrupting the course of justice.
ICAC played her recorded mobile conversation back as well.

Screener: “What is your name?”
U.S. Refugee Wannabe: “My name is Mohamed Houssein.”
Screener: “Where are you from?”
Wannabe: “I am from Syria.”
Screener: “What is your religion?”
Wannabe: “I am a Christian.”
Screener: “Are you a terrorist?”
Wannabe: “No, I am not a terrorist.”

Sure, but what matters is what is available for more than a month.

You don't get free calls to all mobiles and landlines world wide anymore.

Clearer than a analogue landline.

Legacy from Telecom days when suburb first built.

Nope, you've just got a fault.

Government employees completely fireproof so managers
would assignyobbo's to the furthermost points in Sydney.
Fine days you would see telecom cable layers truck parked down from
pub. On wet days you might get a knock saying the can't connect

We saw the buggers doing all the work on the weekend at overtime rates.

The only way I managed to get a what's offered Internet connection was
when EVERYONE was complaining and Telstra gave a "service manager"
email address. He came with two picked people and within 15minutes
probably less found my phone at "junction box" was wired wrong.

You get a better result with a voice service as bad as yours.

Since 1980 had 1000's of "linesmen" (like Mormons) mainly from
Mecca or Karachi turn up claim to of fixed it, but never did!

None of ours have ever been wogs. I did have to rub one fuckwit's
nose in the basics with one of the neighbour's services but all the
rest fixed the problem very quickly.

I did have one who showed up at my place that did have brain
fade when I mentioned that I had an ADSL service but told him to
just ignore that and just concentrate on the voice service problem
I had reported and he did that and fixed it very quickly, on a Saturday
morning after I had reported the fault late on Friday arvo.

Just so much easier for me to use Skype on both SmartPhone
and Computer also because I use an encrypted VPN I cannot
be bugged/deciphered as yours is/can (My computer device,

Not a bad little phone, BUT the battery is pretty hopeless,

I had one, the dual simms were handy, but the memory was very limiting,
a lot of apps won't run from the SD card. Gave it up for a Nexus 5.

It belongs to one of the turks, not me. Doesn’t do skype either.

> Gave it up for a Nexus 5.

He's too jewish for that end of the market currently. Just got a Galaxy S4.

He's just spent $5K going back to Turkey with the new midget for a couple
of months so it makes no sense to be such a tightwad, it remains to be seen
if the message will ever get thru on that tho. He does need the dual sim
pretty badly because he uses amaysim for most of his calls, since amaysim
to amaysim is free on his plan. And he does the same thing with lyca for
the rest of the turks who mostly are on lyca.

He's like most kids, no landline or voip. Doesn’t even have a net service
currently, shared the wifi with one of his neighbours. That one has just
moved out so it remains to be seen what they will do when they come
back from Turkey and move flats. They might well move into the flat at
the back of my neighbours place and be able to use my wifi for free. The
neighbours grandkids and the other neighbour already do that now.
Cost me nothing except the trivial cost of the wifi extender that I put
in the middle of the back neighbour's yard.

Just changing the topic here...
How good is the Galaxy S4's camera? I've got a cheap (around $60) 14Pixel Medion digital camera with
8x optical zoom and 16Gb memory. Can the S4 really compete with the superior optics?
(Just for taking pictures and video.)

Dunno yet, he just got it yesterday and rang me
about getting it authorised yesterday evening.

That is the main reason he got it, for the camera, they are
about to head back to Turkey for a couple of months and
need a decent camera for that.

Not on the 8x optical zoom alone.

That medion phone doesn't have much of a
camera, particularly in low light situations.

Not on the 8x optical zoom alone.

It's a pure camera, not a phone. It has a 14Mpixel sensor, 8x optical
zoom and and optical image stabiliser. Plus 16Gb solely devoted to image
storage.
Low light is a weakness with cheap digital cameras, but in normal light
I'm pretty sure the $60 Medion camera can produce a better picture than
a fixed lens smartphone, which only has digital zoom to compose a picture.

BTW I've got a Panasonic NV-DA1ENA digital video camera which dates back
to 1999. It has fantastic low-light performance, it produces excellent
video even in candlelight. The main problem with it is that the DV tape
format has become redundant. It does store DVD-quality video though,
with no losses due to compression.
