This one might really heat up towards the end of the auction,
stay tuned.

Or search for item number 3861303485

Here's a good example of ridiculously low auction price and
ridiculously high shipping charges.

Listed in category: Home & Garden > Tools > Meters, Testers, Probes

And NOT under test equipment, where it should be. Duh.

Looks like he is targetting a different market? Nobody in the
electronics
industry would give it a second thought, but your average consumer
would
probably think it was a good buy.

If you check you can find the same meter available for $3.99 or
something like that, from a different seller. It's the outrageous
shipping charges that this seller is using to snare bidders.

I think you are confusing an initial 'low reserve' or 'no reserve'
with the final auction bid.

This is supposed to attract your interest.

The closest you could come to an auction 'price' is the option to
'buy
now', available on some auctions.

An item like this probably won't attract more than 1 or 2 bids.

If you think that $8.99 is a ridiculous shipping charge, then you
haven't used the post office, or paid a Fed Ex bill lately.

It's under 1 pound, so it would ship for $3.85 by Priority Mail.
The USPS supplies the box, so there's no cost there.
You can print the label at home and drop it in a mailbox, so "waiting
in
line at the post office" is no excuse either.

Of course, a total cost of $10 for a cheapie DMM is not so bad.
I've seen them for as low as $4, but that's unusual.
Yeah, Futurlec sells them for about $6 plus shipping. I've bought
several.

Exactly - except the last time I bought them they were $2.99 - including
the 9 volt battery! Harbor Freight periodically has them on sale for
that price. For a kick around meter that you throw in the glove box
or the garage, they can't be beat.
