Huh. I guess I will continue to suspend judgement a little longer. I was
really starting to believe that he was just a troll, I was actually going

I have to admit that I don't understand the people who verbally abuse
News2020 and let fly with the profanity. Even if they think he's a troll,
they should just ignore him unless he posts something incorrect (which
might mislead others if unchallenged) about electronics (or radar/sonar or
whatever).

My read on this is that, given that our society has decided to no longer
provide mental-health care / medical health care for the non-insured,
there will be street people, marginally-healthy, under-employed, "safe"
crazies, poor dysfunctional retired folks, etc., in evidence around us,
who previously may have been institutionalized. So given that this is
our society's decision, to keep such people in our community among us,
we should accept them and try to help out, rather than to shun them and
unrelentingly push them away. newsie is after all fairly well adjusted,
in the sense that he manages his funds, pays his rent, and keeps himself
alive without apparent help from friends. Although I must admit, he may
have a support system of relatives, etc., that he hasn't mentioned, who
play a vital role.

It's a bit sad that SED seems to be the last place for hopeless
cases like news2020. Even with the rough treatment he gets here,
he keeps coming back. It would be nice if we could scare him
off, into the hands of more capable people. But as you say, if
society fails....
