Actually it was just the opposite. The astronaut wanted to use the
radar altimeter to land, and the rtos kept kicking his command out
because of overload. Then some ground control "brainiac" (sarcasm)
figured out, in the middle of damned landing, that he should use some
kind of 'GO' command override instead. The ground control "brainiac" was
later awarded a presidential medal for his service, presumably for saving
the U.S. from an ever more obvious national embarrassment.
