It was so, so easy to repair the microwave oven, which was sparking with
the current used to waken Frankenstein\'s monster. Took maybe 20
minutes.
It turns out all most of these sparkers need is a new waveguide cover.
That\'s the rectangular piece of mica on the right wall of the inside, up
near the top. It gets food splatter and somehow that attracts sparking.
Amazon sells many of them, some precut to the size used by specific
models.
I paid 7.50 for four blank sheets, enough in most cases to do 8
microwaves, but certainly 4 of them.
This one also included scissors, which all but one commenter said were
terrible but they worked fine for me. I have utility knives and box
cutters but it wasn\'t worth going downstairs to get them, I also needed
one small hole, and it wasn\'t worth looking for a drill. I used one
spike of a corn-on-the-cob holder with 2 spikes to make a couple holes,
then the point of a steak knife to enlarge the hole to the right size.
The mica bends enough to squeeze into its brackets.
This is a small one but it\'s labeled 1350 watts. Sells for 60 to 80
dollars but fixed for 7.50.
