It's about time.

And of course, they made it back to the present 19 episodes into the show.
Sadly, I can't remember much of the show, though I thought it had lasted
more than one season.

All you need to do
is take the transcap off, use superglue to repair the crack and
replace it. But be carefull..if you overtighen it, then you will not
only have to replace the whole flex polaris generator, but also the
invariant warp transducer. Good luck.

I had one of these go bad on me too. I discovered the proper torque to
apply to the transcap is 1/4 turn before it breaks.

I hate to split hairs with you, but "1/4 turn" isn't what I would call
proper engineering units for torque. Can you specify this in inch-pounds,
newton-meters, or centimeter-grams please?

It was originally specified in cubit-stone units of measure - anybody got the
conversion factors??

No fixing the time machine, but as to how to get to 2013...

....I'll let you know in about nine years.

Get real! Everyone knows the flux capacitor went out of production in 2032. I
doubt his is an antique time machine. :)

Well time machines have been around since H.G. Well's time. Maybe they never
improved? Or the post is from an antique collector, who seeks out
ancient time machines and restores them. He was doing a test on this
one, but he missed something, and hence the failure.

Perhaps, but without a make and model, we can't give specific information.
And the consequences of following something that applies to the wrong
model. Well, I shudder to even think about that! :)
"Yeah, you just need to connect the primary chroniton field emitter to
the secondary plasma manifold." (BOOOM) "Um... Or was it the
primary..."

Hi!

Time machines will be covered in detail, including service information, on
Sci.Electronics.Repair FAQ Web site. :)
Now you should do that. The humor section ('Where Is My CD Data Physically',
etc...) on the FAQ doesn't seem to have been updated in a while. :)

Yeah, but it's hard to cover time mcahines in the present. :)

THats right. If you could fix it, you would travel back to the time
just before it broke and prevent the problem from happening.
Therefore you wouldn't have written this. Looks like your screwed.

If never thought of doing that he would have been ok. Unfortunately, by you telling him that, you are the one that has screwed him :)

It certainly will be an antique by 2103 if he doesn't get it fixed!

Get me out of here!!

That would take a transporter. We're discussing time machines repairs in this thread.

I.e., "Get me earlier from here" or "get me later from here"

No problem. Once you get the FAC written, you can post it WHENEVER you

What, did you find one at a garage sale for fifty cents, and carried it
home on your bike?
Well, I had to pay $5 and use a furniture dolly to get it home but...

I'm waiting for the disclaimers about how the novice should not try
to repair their own time machine. The poster clearly shows a lack of
knowledge, since everyone knows that time machiens only go back in time.
Not true! The one in H. G. Wells' "The Time Machine" was perfectly happy
going either way and the brass trim definitely added a touch of class.
Unfortunately, the one I picked up for $5 was just in the basic off-white
cabinet, though it should have full functionality with all the bells and
whistles when repaired.

You have to make your way back to the future some other way. One publicized
scheme, in Heinlein's "Door Into Summer", was going for a cryogenic
freeze to get back to the future. It's kind of amusing that we've already
passed the "future" that is being talked about.
See above.

And nobody has gave any auxiliary warnings, about not disturbing anything
in the present, because it will kill the poster's grandfather and the
poster will disappear from view. Come to think of it, has anyone checked
to see if the original post has disappeared? A sure sign that he has already
altered the future.
It's still there on Googlegroups. :)
