Help: Using Analog Video Camera with LCD/VCR Combo Unit

I have a new Sansui 6" LCD/VCR combo unit(model number: CLD0065) that
I had intended to use for recording on a trip I'm about to take.

I hooked my older analog video camera which is a JVC Lolux(Model
number: GX-N7U) to the Sansui LCD/VCR via a 10-pin AC
adaptor(AC-C412).

For some reason I can't get a decent picture to record. And the best
picture I do get is when I use the "Fader button". If I keep my finger
on this button, the picture I get on the Sansui will progressively go
from a very dark, high contrast picture, to a so-so picture, to a dim
but washed out picture. When I take my finger off of the "Fader
button", it slowly returns back to the original dark, high contrast
picture. I can't get the picture to stay "in-the-middle". Not that I'm
supposed to. Even if I could, that's not a "great" picture, but it's
better than what is shown when I don't have the "Fader button"
depressed, or when I leave my finger on the "Fader button".(I am aware
that the "Fader" option is not the problem).

I tried all three of my JVC(GX-N7U) video cameras with the same
result.

I tested the three cameras with my CurtisMathis TV/VCR combo where I
got a decent picture, so the problem is obviously the Sansui LCD/VCR.

Could the new Sansui be faulty?

Any ideas on what I am doing incorrectly would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Sounds like the video input on the LCD thing is not terminated. Video
inputs should have a 75 ohm resistor to ground, otherwise you get a very
bright contrasty picture like you describe.

You might try bodging up an adaptor to put a 75 ohm resistor across the
input.

Actually I decribed it as a "very dark", contrasty picture... But if I
put and leave my finger on the "Fader" button, the picture will
brighten up, and eventually wash out to a grey/green(?) color.

You might try bodging up an adaptor to put a 75 ohm resistor across the
input.
I have no idea what that meant.

Thanks.

In that case I will give you a simpler version: The LCD display is
faulty or badly designed, take it back to your supplier.

Does anyone have any work-arounds that would solve my problem?

Thanks.

See below:

***Note: I get a reading of 74.5 ohms at the video input.

I have a new Sansui 6" LCD/VCR combo unit(model number: CLD0065) that
I had intended to use for recording on a trip I'm about to take.

For some reason I can't get a decent picture to record. And the best
picture I do get is when I use the "Fader button". If I keep my finger
on this button, the picture I get on the Sansui will progressively go
from a *very dark/high contrast* picture, to a *dim/washed out*
picture. When I take my finger off of the "Fader button", it of course
slowly returns all the way back to the original dark, high contrast
picture. I can't get the picture to stay "in-the-middle". Not that I'm
supposed to. Even if I could, that's not a "great" picture, but it's

I tried all three of my JVC(GX-N7U) video cameras with my regular
TV/VCR combo unit and everything works fine, so the problem is
obviously the Sansui LCD/VCR(of which I have two that exhibit the same
problem).

Thanks a lot.

What is this "10-pin AC adapter"? Does it somehow provide
the A/V inputs/outputs to your Sansui gadget? Maybe it is broken.

any s or composite in?

There's nothing wrong with the 10-pin adaptor(AC-C412), because the
video cameras work perfectly with my regular TV/VCR combo unit. It's
just the Sansui LCD-TV/VCR(which only has RCA jacks for audio/video
"in" and audio/video "out) that I have the problem with.

Would some sort of NTSC amplifier solve my problem?

Thanks.

Outside of getting an NTSC amplifier(which I'm still researching), is
there a chance that the image issue could be corrected by
getting/using a digital video camera.

I ask because I was thinking that the analog to digital conversion may
be the problem.

Thanks a lot.
