I'm sure it won't last but for those of you with fixed cost high speed
connections.....

I wonder how long it will last.

I was also rolling on the floor.
The creator of the page was kind to only have 12 images.
It could have been 500.

Ok, messing with Guy on usenet is fun enough. Mixing up servers, nyms
and readers to give his Bayesian filters a workout and him fits is all
right, good clean fun. But messing up his web site is taking it to
another level and can take a serious turn. Let's hope this doesn't
escalate.

Note I'm not defending Guy in any way. I rather wish he'd stay away
until he's back on his meds. His site will probably be back up again
shortly but I've heard of sites going down permanently due to some
shenanigan or other. Of course, he should have disabled hotlinking
from the start but it's usually not expected nor remembered.

From the outside, this continueing torment of someone is really
starting to look pathetic.

SCI.ELECTRONIC.DESIGN
Now just how many of us would have fallen into the Geek category in our
youth? Anyone remember the bullies pushing you around, or belittling
you, or making you feel like you did not belong just because you had
your own way doing/seeing/acting. Maybe you really were a PITA.

So now we have our own club and we can imitate the behavior that we may
have once been victims of. Great. Lets see how many of us we can get
to pick on one person.

For the most part, Usenet posts live forever. How many of you want
your IRL names associated with this type of behavior? Ever think that
one of the character references employers use is a Usenet search?

Leave the guy alone.

It would certainly help if GM left us alone. He's been hijacking posts
to his own moderated group and playing stupid header games, and
sneering at and preaching at and insulting people who object. Now he
knows that other people can do annoying web tricks, too.

Any time he wants to stop messing with the group and participating in
a fair manner, there are lots of people, including me, who would
engage him in civil discussion. If not, let's hope we have driven him
away and we can now safely click "reply" without having to analyze
headers to see how he's mucked with them this time.

There's a good way to avoid this that saved me a lot of useless reading
time: just when I see his name poping up somewhere in a thread I know the
branch will be trashed. I just don't read the branch further.

The business about messing with headers puts Ghee into a specific category
where he is essentially trying to sabotage normal operation of s.e.d.

His personal peculiarities themselves wouldn't reasonably justify an 'attack
' but he seems hell bent on making an arse and damded nuisance of himself
sadly.

I don't know who's screwing around with Guy Macon's name and website,
but when I clicked the link, Tripod told me that the site had been
removed for violation of Terms of Service.

Come on, guys, aren't we supposed to be grownups here? At least when
I post flagrant bullshit, I do it under a nym, and I really try to
not do too much Macon-bashing, much as he "asks for it". The thing is,
I've been there, done that. The guy's in pain. "Rich, why are you
defending him? He's just as poopy to you as to everybody else!" Well,
it's because I sympathize. "He is more to be pitied than censured,"
to paraphrase an old quote from many years back.

Although, at his age, one would think he'd kind of clue up. I
eventually did - or am at least working on it. And I had a special
challenge - every time I've tried to pull myself up by my own
bootstraps, I've landed on my ass. If Experience Is The Best
Teacher, and We Learn From Our Mistakes, then I must be about
the wisest motherfucker on the planet. Everything I've ever
said or done has been wrong. So I know how he feels.

But I do endeavor to learn from my mistakes.

Uh, oh. Tonight's alcohol is kicking in - better go change names!

Cheers!

Well..... Someone's been busy changing his website to text format and I don't
think that's likely to be anyone else. Yeah, I reckon someone got his attention.

Nothing excuses a DOS attack, IMO. Spammers are bad enough and wormers
worse. ...and that's what they do. DOSing GAY Bacon isn't a good thin,

I really meant 'attack' in the sense of ppl making personal attacks but I can see
how the misunderstanding arose.

Indeed I can't approve of anyone trying to bring his site down. I can however see
how he brought it on himself.
