GPIB 9914 to 7210 Conversion

I had to change my GPIB card from a 9914 to a 7210.
Need to rewrite all my 9914 bit-bang control software
for the 7210. I have both the chip specs, but there are always
gotchas.

Is there a cookbook to help with this process?
As I recall, I spent weeks on the 9914 code tripping over
details that I thought were outside the scope of the tiny
subset of GPIB that I implemented. I'd like to avoid this
on the conversion.

Also looking for a reference design for an RS-232 to GPIB converter.
Again, only need a tiny subset of GPIB and want to add some
additional data pre-processing while I'm at it. Buying a commercial
box won't let me do that.

Thanks, mike
