Good verses bad VCRs ?

I've heard that VCR's are now being made even cheaper and shoddier than they
were a few years ago because they're 'on the way out'. I've got a Panasonic
DVD/hard disc recorder which is excellent so I haven't bought a VCR for
about 5 years. My last VCR was a Sony which is still a great machine. I'm
going to buy a new VCR for a friend and I just wonder if any of you know a
particularly good brand/model, or particularly BAD model to avoid. I fixed
one of those no-name VCRs a few weeks ago and it was so flimsy I almost
admired how far the technology has come since they first came out and
weighed about 8 kilos - this piece of puff pastry was about 800 grams.

Thanks,
Dean.

Just the usual utterly mindless pig ignorant bullshit.

Its never been about its weight, stupid.

VCR's are as bad as they can get - even worse than the goldstar days.

Just ensure that you get yourself a hi-fi unit, cause for $40 more they come
with a stereo tuner and the sound from hi-fi video tapes (all pre-recorded)
is so close to DVD.

any nec / panasonic / lg (most of them are identicle in operation / display
that i think there all made by the same company.

no one in their right mind would use a video deck to record sound as it
is full of switching noise

** That is absolute garbage.

VHS hi-fi has excellent sound quality - superior to any cassette or R/R
deck.

Mainlander is a fact free zone.
