Hi Franc. Â That url gets redirected to a search site for me !

I still have no trouble with Opera or OffByOne, and I'm positive
that the site contents are not being retrieved from my cache.

- Franc Zabkar

Its now working for me as of this morning. Â I think the other poster
was right it had been hijacked.

JW recommended adding the line
127.0.0.1 searchacross.com
to your hosts file, that worked for me AFTER a reboot on this Win98
IE5 system

Adding url's to the hosts file is a good way of blocking a site or batch
of them you don't want.

Thanks
What if I was to use software that uses "127.0.0.1" instead as the address ?

Since its the loopback address on your own machine only it, can talk to
it.

I get redirected to some damned site titled "Blogoholic.info". (Courtesy
of some entity called "searchacross.com".)

I see a reference to "Blogoholic.info" in the source code. If you can
turn off Javascript in your browser, then I believe the site should
render OK.

I highly recommend OffByOne as an alternative browser for situations
like this. It is tiny, does not support JS or Java, does not use a
cache, and does not write to your registry.

I use FF with an extension called Noscript. Javascript is off by
default, but you can enable it for individual sites. Flash crap
can is also controlled by site.
The Javascript controls make surfing *much* safer, while the Flash
controls make surfing more pleasant.

Yep.

I get the same controls by using an old version of PrefBar, which puts
several useful choices right in a toolbar (colors, images, JavaScript,
Flash, etc.).

Actually, that was Adrian C, not me. But it did work, no reboot necessary
on XP.
Oh really. do you know what that actually does?
Yes.
