I got tired of scammers using images from our website on their
eBay auctions, so I started putting our company name across
the pictures.

That didn't stop them. Some bastard (with zero feedback,
registered in France, but claiming to be in Italy), used one
of our images WITH OUR NAME ON IT:
http://www.harlanlabs.com/orig8569b.jpg

The moron just linked to the pic on our website instead
of downloading the picture, so I renamed the image and
replaced it. Check out the scammer's auction now:
http://tinyurl.com/3af5j

The auction already has bids, so the scammer cannot
now change the picture.

Sic semper scammers.

I laughed so hard that I have some of that in my pants. Nice one.

Sick of scammers on ebay. Got burned on an $80 HP print server in
Dec. I am just glad my HP logic analyzer arrived without a hitch about
a week after that scam!

It takes a special kind of moron to just lazily link right to an image you
control. Serves 'em right, and one of the funniest things I've seen on eBay!
Can you imagine being a bidder on that, and then seeing the photo change...
Hahahaa....!

Even better would be to some other image (legal and tasteful, of course) up
w/ the same URL he was pointing to... something that would be VERY
embarrassing to the scammer! hehehe

Ha! Yeah, you have any piece of gear that was run over by a truck,
REALLY trashed by UPS gorillas, or maybe caught fire? Make a REALLY
good, clear picture of the damaged equipment, and hold it for the next
time somebody uses it in an auction. It would be a real gas to see the
guy's face the next time he checks on his own auction, and sees the
pic is clearly some massively destroyed piece of gear!
(Or maybe you did this, the auction was down by the time I looked.)
