The US has had them for the last 3 years or so and the UK too but I've

Most current phones are disposable. Let's see how many of the phones
sold today are still in working condition in three years.
IME, the relatively high price of replacement batteries is what
renders a phone disposable.

You are lucky to get a good 12-15 mths out of any new phone now

Bullshit.

I've still got a "working" Orbitel 902 (aka "Evolution") floating
around somewhere.
Saw someone at Wynyard Station with and old Motorola 7500 strapped to his

I had one of those 10 years ago.
That must be around 10 years old and works as well as it ever did
(which wasn't at all well). Replaced it with a Nokia 2110 fairly
shortly after buying the Orbitel, and tried to offload it onto
relatives and friends. Within a couple of weeks it invariably came
back to me.

What a fucking piece of shit waste of money that thing was. Couldn't
even give it away.

Bullshit.

Spectacular logic, and deduction.

I take my hat off to you

Pathetic excuse for bullshit.
I agree, your response was

Pathetic, really. Even a dunny cleaning fuckwit child
should be able to do better than that pathetic effort.

Obviously not.

Should I buy a $30 battery for a 3-year-old phone, or a new phone for
$80?
