It's funny that Phil has not yet learned, and in fact may well never learn, that the way he says things takes away from what he says. Much of what he says is never heard at all.

It's just that his personality is sort of like a dynamic range
compressor that has two settings, mild compression at a 2:1 ratio, and
brickwall limiting all peaks hitting 0dB full-scale.

No, you can't take it. I have been shot, robbed, kicked half to death and all that. My Parents got divorced and later Ma told me to go to hell with my Father. And then his last words to me were "Get the fuck out". Died the next day and NO, I didn't kill him.

One wonders what made Phil how he is. Maybe every time he said pass the butter at the table they kicked him in the head...

I had the opportunity to come to an understanding with my "difficult"
father before he passed it's unfortunate not every kid has that
opportunity, or has a father amenable to the process.

The understanding was that if he wanted my assistance, which he very
much needed at the time, he would learn to behave better. there's a new
sheriff in town and the rewards of seeing it my way are great, the costs
of not, pretty high. rule 1. When we want something, we say "please."

Did the nuns still slap kids on the fingers with a ruler if they wrote
left-handed at that time? My father ended up ambidextrous that way.

Sometimes lies and hypocrisy happen not because someone is trying to be
malicious but because they're trying to be kind. Not always, sometimes.
And it doesn't always work out to being legitimate kindness in the long
run, but people don't tend to look at the long run.

It's not that uncommon situation. and it's not exactly like a total
role-reversal. Depends on the parent some parents just disown their
children and some children just disown their parents because the
differences or abuse are irreconcilable.

and some would prefer the relationship to be better they just don't know
how or never learned. I see a situation with a parent who may be
somewhat estranged but still leaves the door open as an invitation that
says "teach me." and there should definitely a point in a man's life
when he becomes less focused on crap that happened in the past vs. what
are an appropriate and productive set of responsibilities to have _now_.

Hi to all the rocket scientists here:

I believe my point is now VERY well proven - it is nigh impossible to identify design errors by just looking at the schem.

Well, yes, because you had a speaker as a load, any DC-output-distortion was going to be a problem.

For a rocket scientist, though, the load might NEED some DC to operate well; it's
not a 'bad amplifier' so much as a 'mediocre fit to the driven load' .

It's common in audio to design some output impedance in an amplifier, and rocket
scientists do NOT understand why anyone would do that... because they
don't expect to hunt for dead fuses with an audience waiting...
