Delco DS-501 Transistor ?

Anybody heard of this transistor or know if there is an equivalent
available?

I have an old (early 1970s) GM car radio/stereo that uses an external
'convector' (which I do not have) - it should be a large external
heatsink w/ two(2) DS-501 transistors on it is all. I wonder if I can
fabricate an equivalent unit out of modern items? I'm guessing all I
need is a pair of large Delco DS-501 transistors (or modern equiv?)
mounted to a large externally mounted heatsink and 6 wires (3 for each
transistor) going to the radio unit.

I have access to one such 'convector' I can inspect. The radio works
fine w/ the 'borrowed' convector.

Are you sure you don't mean 'convertor'?

The NTE (paper) crossref and catalog gives the sub for DS-501 as NTE105.

Actually I don't know. The General Motors Manual (for the car, not the
radio or stereo) calls it a "convector" for a mono radio and an
"adapter" for a stereo radio.

The difference between these two parts is size of the aluminum heat
sink and one or two DS-501s. The stereo version is twice the size of
alum sink and a pair of DS501s and the mono radio has only a single
DS501 on it's smaller heat sink. (basically cut it in half) The
harness connecting the two is 6 wires or 3 wires respectively.

In radio or electronics parlance not sure what I'd call it. Heat Sink
w/ 'driver' transisters for the amp I'd guess at describing it as.

wire connector and the brown discs on the bottom are caps:

I have two pairs of those and some delco 2n277's as well,make an offer

The Delco DS-501 is in the big TO-36 doorknob package, and can dissipate
150 Watts, much greater than the 2N235A.
