hey is there some online / to buy? database that you can type in whats on a
compont and find out what it is, and pin configrations etc??

I use Google. If it fails, www.nteinc.com to search the NTE database (at least
for the pinouts). If it else fails, www.datasheetarchive.com . If all else
fails, I ask on this newsgroup.

You forgot to mention that there are pay websites, and ad annoyance
websites such as datasheetcatalog.com, which I have avoided, so I can't
comment on its usefulness. Just remember that TANSTAAFL, there ain't no
such thing as a free lunch. You sign up, they want your life history,
and they start bombarding you with their catalogs and ads, especially
thru the snail mail.

Oh, and when you do a search in Google, those pay and annoyance websites
usually pop up first, obviously because google gets a chunk of the
change for putting them first. Gotcha. Maybe that's why google is
going public, they're making money at doing this.
