Who manufacures them? I know Vishay/Siliconix and Central Semiconductor.
Someone else?

since IRD/CRD don't normally come in large current types if guess
they are not that popular.
most CRD's average around a 100Ma's i think if your looking for more
than that you would need to use a couple of high current FETS>

That's an understatement. I can't remember the last ime I saw one in a
schematic, let alone one in a circuit.

JFETs can be connected gate to source and they become a current
regulator. But I can't remember seeing a JFET that could dissipate more
than a few hundred mW. At a few tens of volts, that's only a few tens
of mA or less.

I think they are commonly used in ICP sensor conditioning circuits (ICP
sensors are used in vibration measurement applications)

I'm looking for maybe 8 miliamps. And agreed, JFET can be used, however
I'm not sure about accuracy of JFET solution at the moment.

Any answer to my original question?

Motorola made a series of regulator diodes at one time. 1N5283 thru 1N5314.

I think Advanced Semiconductor and a company with a name like Compensated
Semi.
