They recently changed up the lane structure on a certain main
thoroughfare in Providence RI downtown such that there's now a wide
green bike lane on the right divided by a small concrete median and car
traffic goes to the left.

Problem is it's near the nightclub district and it's still wide enough
to fit a car through so drunks sometimes drive right up it and hit/rip
out all the orange plastic posts in the center that are supposed to
discourage drivers from doing that lol

I've always heard that bicycles own the entire lane just like a car and must be given it. But I never see them riding in the middle of the lane, always on the right line. I suppose if they drive in the middle of the lane it would tick people off? But if you are barely in the lane it is hard for some people to judge the distance. Then there are larger vehicles that don't leave a lot of room when passing in the same lane.

I've never understood why people want to ride bikes on the roads. It seems very dangerous. I know someone who was hurt seriously and was out of work for a couple of months. I'm not interested in that sort of danger. I'll stick to scuba and sky diving... safer sports.

Then there are the path gangsters who think they own the hiking paths. They want to ride bikes on shared paths as if walkers had rear view mirrors. Once I saw a bike messenger on the sidewalk in DC who had to slow down to get around me as I walked past some other people. He gave me shit about it. WTF? It's not even legal to ride bikes on the sidewalk in the central business district where we were!!!

They recently changed up the lane structure on a certain main
thoroughfare in Providence RI downtown such that there's now a
wide green bike lane on the right divided by a small concrete
median and car traffic goes to the left.

Problem is it's near the nightclub district and it's still wide
enough to fit a car through so drunks sometimes drive right up it
and hit/rip out all the orange plastic posts in the center that
are supposed to discourage drivers from doing that lol

I have often imagined a holographic projector that would make my car look like a semi-truck. Might be a bit cumbersome for a bicycle though. I'll need to work on the more compact projector 2.0 for bicycles.

I can see it now... those phones came up on the tower on one side,
