Plonk threads then. Some think DimBulb has something to say.

From another message...hey Sanmina is a good company...I made alot of
coin
on their stock since May...
Up from five bucks to over 12 now....who says the market sucks huh!....I
made more money on that one in 8 months than I used to make in an entire
year! Life is good!...take care Keith.....

Then again, one would have to be pretty much an idiot (listening
DimBulb?) to *not* make money in the market this year. My 401K
is up over 40%. I sunk much of my wife's IRA into AMD at 6ish.
It's $14.25 now (down from $18.50).

Great to hear Keith...alot of us took in the pants a few years ago and now
many are making some good coin. Yeah, those IRA's...how would you like to
have worked for Cisco, Nortel or Lucent and had your eggs all in one
basket.
Indeed! I don't invest in my employer, except through the 401K
"large-cap" and at certain times to pick up the "dead-cat-
bounce". The Enron employees deserve to be penniless. They
invested everything they had in one basket. I could have (others
did) made 5X my money by investing in my employer at one time. I
have my entire life invested there, I don't need to put the
sheckles I've saved in there too!

...Uhhh...2008 might get you back to where you were! (If even then!)
I'm doing fine now! It was bad for a couple of years, but this
year puts things right. Next year is going to *rocket*.

As for DimBulb,....he NEVER listens...he just pontificates, prevaricates and
profanisizes! Our monosyllabic Troll will be googling his mind out on that
one !!!
He's simply a troll. He *claims* to be an engineer, but
obviously hasn't a clue. I often find it amusing to chase the
troll. You really must look back a year or so ago to his claim
that a 100W lightbulb doesn't put out as much heat a a 100W
heater. It's a riot! ...and the reason I tagged him with
"DimBulb" (100W <> 100W, eh?).

Happy Holidays Keith.....Ross
To hell with that! Merry Christmas! ...and Bah Humbug! ;-)

That's what they say about it right? It's everything. Timing..... D'oh!

Ken

That's correct....and long term investing in the safer indexes doesn't
hurt
either...Though long term would have had to ended and have gotten you out
of
the market in 2000/2001, as I mostly did, and into cash...(Mostly is the
key
word here!) Hmmm....just somewhat made your point didn't I.....take care
Ken, Ross

My comment was much funnier in my head than when it went onto a screen. The
old one about the secret of good comedy being timing....never mind. :)

Seriously, however you're right - a long-term view is essential if you want
to prosper with significantly less heart palpitations.

I agree about next year....I am looking forward to the expected tech rally!
I still have a pretty heavy position there! I pulled out quite a bit in 99'
but built another position which I am waiting to recover from in the
following 2 years...
Hahaha....Dimbulb...yeah...I have seen references to that all over the
groups in recent months...I have been out of the ng's for some years...
I had a job and owned a business too during the huge tech rally of the late
90's......I was too busy to read my email
not to mention time to spend here in the ng's.....I retired back in May but
still run the business.....But working 2 days a week is pretty laid back
compared to what life used to be!
So hey...best of luck in the coming year and OK....Bah Humbug!!....take care

Hi

I am trying to use an atx pc power supply without wasting your time going to
details

There are two type of connectors:
1- One is 10pins x2 raw female connector
2- 3or4 with one raw of four pins (these you hook them to HD, floppy D, etc…

I think all I need is the first one

Green should be connected to ground, now the question
Some suggest using small resistor, where do I hook it

If I need 12V which do I use? Yellow and ??
If I need 5V which do I use? Red and ??
If I need 3.3V which do I use? Orange and ??

can i use ohm law if using the 12V, would it be ok to use 10wat 2Ohm
resistor so i get 6Amp and so on.

thanks in advance

Jed

Hey!

i built my own power supply for electronics stuff a few months back and
found this webpage to be a good resource

http://web2.murraystate.edu/andy.batts/ps/PowerSupply.htm#levels

i am working on getting a site up myself on what i did to construct my
own power supply.. ill get around to it some day..

hope that helps
