Component identification

Hello,
Does anyone know of a website that is good for identifying old ICs? I
have quite a few I can't identify. An example is the ones in this pic

You could try:

But the ones in your picture are (from the top)

Mitsubishi
National Semiconductor DM7404


The Texas part was made in 1980 (week 48) and there was one of the
computer manufacturers in the UK that used to mark the chips with a
single letter like that - can't remember who now - but I do remember
recovering a lot of chips like that off old boards in the past. You
will probably have to work out the logic of the chip yoursef (unless
someone can say definitely what it is) and you'll find it's more that
likely a simple 74 series chip (7400, 7474 etc).

Bottom chip is indeed a National Semiconductor or Signetics part. TTL
logic chip, 7404.
Hex inverter.
Vdd pin 14 Vss pin 7
inputs: 1,3, 5, 9, 11, 13
outputs (wrt inputs): 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12

If you're having trouble identifying a National DM7404 old time original
TTL chip, then I think you need to do some serious reading in a few
books, maybe starting with the EE master or TTL databookk from one of
the old mfgrs such as TI.
