Cats Piss

finger to keyboard and composed:

Does anyone know why cats like to piss on electronics gear,
especially guitar amps?
Because everyone's a critic?

What did you do to the cat? Cats are smarter than many people think,
and are quite vindictive when pissed at you. They know what you value
and how to get even with you, but they also know where the "line" is.
The cat obviously doesn't like you for some reason, but knows that you
will not seriously harm it for pissing on your amp.

That sounds the closest answer I've heard.

Because the voltage isn't high enough :)

Yep, that's the reality of it. If the voltage is high enough, I can
give you the tip that they DON'T like it ;-)

Peeing on ones shoes as one of the earlier posters stated. Besides, it's
funny.

I stated what it was, you don't have to go there if you prefer.

Yep, it's funny all right. Just that I was on about electro-zapping
the little feral beasts. Many a valve rig has taught a serious lesson
to a wayward moggie ;-)

I had a radiator fan teach one a lesson...in those days the blades were
metal.

and WTF was a moggie doing in there?

and I reckon it is the PISS that splashes when I use the urinals
.. splashes from the bottom and sprays on the shoes..and if you do not
polish them regullarly .. blisters all over the shoes! ..
so now I polish my shoes as often as I can with shoe polish to keep this
acid off ,.. :)
Erm - just don't piss on your shoes......

if left there.

Several reasons :

1. spray marking, a territorial marker, usually by male cats.
2. the cat thinks the electronic item somehow resembles a cat litter tray
(who knows what goes on in the mind of a cat?)

I've had cats (3, 1 expired at 17, 1 at 22, the third is still kicking on at
8) for the past 25 years and they've never pissed on anything.

It was sleeping on the warm engine huh?
Yes, and after startup too but what a mess!

Maybe its your cat trying to tell you something about your guitar playing
skill...............

No, but years ago in the british army I had a room mate who used to come
in drunk, sleepwalk, and piss up the first thing he bumped into. So one
night after he went to sleep we moved a big old valve radar PSU into the
aisle from his bed and turned it on. he never did it again.

What I'd like to know is how to stop my 3 year old dog from pissing on
my 10 year old cat, or even better how to stop him trying to hump her,
without losing his stud fee potential.

Keep them in separate enclosures.

Maybe the cat thinks you still use catgut for guitar strings.
