Oh geez. Now how do you know the OP wasn't using it for a shim, because
he didn't have any 8051's handy?

They're in the same package so they will be interchangeable for
soldering practice, shimming, emergency screwdrivers and such. For use
in an actual circuit they won't be interchangeable.

Damned if I do, damned if I don't. Just yesterday I was (justifiably)
rebuked on rec.audio.pro for giving a smart-ass answer to a poster who asked
a horribly underspecified question... I decided to be nice to this one
instead. That'll teach me ;-)

And after all, even in a circuit, the answer is "yes, if you are willing to
change the polarity of everything else in the circuit as well."
