Caller ID box with "No ID" Blocking?

I'm looking for a "Caller ID Box" to put in the phone line going to our
office fax machine, which will not pass incoming calls through to the
machine unless they have a caller ID.

I'm trying to limit the number of "junk faxes" which we receive every
day, and/or be able to record the sender's phone number for faxes which
haven't had their caller IDs blocked by the sender.

For various reasons I don't want to use a fax modem program on a computer.

Pointers to Caller ID boxes with the feature(s) I'm looking for will be
much appreciated.

Thanks guys,

WinFax has the ability to block faxes with no caller-ID, but your
modem has to have caller-ID capability.

I'm also interested in caller-ID boxes which could output serial or
USB data so I could use it for blocking jerks who continue to ignore
the Do-Not-Call List.

I don't think such a device is available. I built a few boxes similar
to this for a friend and me. What you need is a caller ID with a LINE
IN and a controlled PHONE OUT connection. Only allow connection to
Phone/FAX after 1st ring and caller ID received and verified using an
extra relay oerated by a micro. But then You have the problem when you
want to place a call from the PHONE/FAX. With the controlled connection
you will not see the LINE at the PHONE/FAX and you are not able to make
the call.

Some phones had a second pair that close a contact independent of the
loop when you lift the handset. Is this available on a FAX?

I am not sure if this will help or not, but try eFax.com. You get your
faxs sent to your email and I think you can get who ever sent it on
the cover page. The basic service is free and after that there are
fees. It is great if you want to only receive. To receive and send
thats were the fees comes in. Good luck

Don't you report them? I thought we went thru this recently. The
callerID bitstream is a 202 modem compatible bitstream, so all you have
to do to get it into your PC is to connect a 202 modem receiver, such as
a XR2211 chip I believe it is. Then once it's into your PC, pick out
the data that you need. Which was where I thought your son or
son-in-law was supposed to do the software work. ;0)

We're all incredibly busy so I'd like to buy the CID-to-serial
off-the-shelf and stand-alone... I don;t want to have to insert
anything into the computer... thinking saleable *product* here ;-)

If you have caller ID here, you can automagically have anonymous calls
blocked. Will your telco not do it for you?

(I live in the UK).

Surf Google Groups for "ring killer", on science.electronics.misc
(might have been cross-posted to other groups as well).

This thread discusses how to kill ringing without affecting your
ability to call out.
