I need an RCA (phono) style male to female 'adapter'. A connector
module featuring a female RCA and male RCA combined in a single
connector with some room inside to add a few components.

I want it to simply construct an in-line attenuator.

I just put the resistors inside the connector itself. And probably just
about every other DIY audio fanatic with a soldering iron does, too.

These things tend to be molded plastic doohickeys now. So I'll give
you two suggestions:

1. Build up the circuit as a ratsnest, put it in a plastic tube, fill
the tube with hotmelt or (better) epoxy, and crack off the tube when
the glue sets, or

2. Cut a piece of tube in half, glue one connector at each end, build
the circuit, glue the other half of the tube on top.

Thanks for the tips but I am really looking for an existing
manufactured product.

I remember seeing one years back but just can;t locate an metal
barreled inline RCA male/female anywhere.
