Just a thought here Kip.

Maybe you're burned out after 35 years and need to Retire.... ????
Perhaps a newbie should check out a person's posting history on a
particular newsgroup before making such a claim. Do you even know what
"HOT" refers to?? You certainly don't seem to know what its function
is...

Sorry you feel so "threatened" by NON-Professionals John.

So, this forum is dedicated to PROFESSIONALS ONLY and NOT for everyday
"STUPID" people to try and learn how to repair electronics ??

Best take the set to a service shop
sounds to me like you dont have a clue.
No disrespect, but it sounds like it would be cheaper
in the long run.

Hold the phones, the B -> E measures about 40 ohms, after
reading
sam
articles, this might be normal. The C -E also measures in one
direction
and
that might be normal, so with the light bulb trick how bright
should
it
glow
and how much of the set start ?

cheers
Mike (ps I use a 100w light with 240v supply)

I have a Teac 34 cm TV that blows the HOT between B and E. I
replaced
the
HOT and there it went again, it also took the driver. I then
found
some
shorted caps (not sure what section) and used the 100watt
light
bulb
to
start it up. It started in standby mode so I hit the remote,
another
dead
HOT. So what am I looking for ? the trippler or something on
the
output
of
the HOT or something
on the input like the H drive transformer ?

I would be too.

Since I'm NOT a Professional and promise not to take my CRT to you (after
I've hacked it up that is), could you point out the "HOT" transistor in the
below URL to me ?

I'd appreciate your Professional input! :>)

Thank you,

ERIC
I've already given you good instructions as to how to locate it...if
you can't find it from the instructions I gave, you shouldn't be in
there in the first place.

Oh, and by the way...any technician would be able to identify the HOT
by simply looking at the circuit board, without any need of a
schematic. Don't endanger yourself and your monitor any more, please.
