25 Mil Pitch Ribbon Cable

So the project I'm working on is a one-off for a university, and I seem
to be about to run into a cost snag, so here's hoping someone can find a
good answer.

I need two runs, each about a foot long, of 25 mil pitch ribbon cable,
with IDC connectors on each end. One is 40 conductors, one is 80
conductors. And I'd like a spare of each, too, since those little
microribbons don't seem like the most structurally sound things in the
world.

Mouser is willing to sell me the connectors, though at fairly outrageous
prices. What they're not willing to sell me, however, is 80 conductor
wide 25 mil ribbon in anything less than a 300 foot reel. Needless to
say this is a bit of overkill, and a rather expensive bit at that.

Does anyone know any cable assembly houses that might be willing to help
me out with a couple single cables, rather than by the kilounit? The
labor on this is something on the order of three minutes.
Alternatively, does anyone have either connectors or a few feet of
ribbon cable that they might be able to sell me?

To clarify, the connectors I'm talking about are dual-row 50 mil pitch
on a 100 mil centerline. At least, the ones on the board I need to
connect to are. The ones on my board, I suppose, could be just about
anything as long as they'll go onto the same ribbon cable, but it
certainly seems that symmetry would have value.

Get an IDE cable.
The UDMA versions, use 25mil pitch cable, and the run from the motherboard
socket to the first drive connector is longer than you need. These are
cheap...

Maybe you could cannibalize some IDE cables.

80 conductors? Check.
About a foot? Check.
Cost? $10 for two at the Fry's down the freeway.

Thanks Roger, I think you just saved me $224 off of Mouser's 100' reel.
