On this set I can hear the degaussing coils, I see the dust attract
momentarily around the high voltage section, and I hear a slight thump
in the speakers and it appears to go into immediate shutdown. Does
anyone have any service notes on this model? Thanks, Lenny.

Google it.

Run it up on a variac and watch the HV to see if it climbs past 25kv.

Worked on a lot of Zenith models in the past going into protect mode
because of failure in the tuning circuit of the HV. Don't know how
relevant that is for your chassis but tuning caps were when I was
fixin them
