Zenith OSD won't turn off

Set is a model SM3583BT, yes is the same one I posted about a couple of
weeks ago. All fixed and returned to the customer (thanks to you guys) but
he's having a bit of trouble with the A/V inputs. You see, the display in
the top right corner of the screen ("VIDEO1" etc) will not go off. But while
on cable or antenna input, the display readily disappears at the press of
ENTER. In AV mode, this display stays on all the time unless the main menu
is brought up.
The remote is not original but it is very similiar, what I'm wondering is
if there's supposed to be a special button for the display. Or is this a
problem that can only be fixed through the service menu?
Thanks for any advice.

If I remember, this is normal, if there isnt any signal present at the
input. It should disapear when signal is recieved. Keeps you from thinking
the tv is off, black screen.
I could be wrong.

No, the input signal is there and working fine.........

Some TVs have a display feature that you cycle it off or on to display
permently or for short time then disappear. Find that button on your
remote. Can be status, display etc.

It's worth noting that the menu always appears when the TV is first powered
(but soon goes away). When I first got the set going, it didn't do this; it
only started doing it after I'd accessed the service menu to check a few
things.....
The original remote for this set is long gone, would it have had a display /
status button? The replacement remote I supplied would cycle the display (in
CABLE mode) on and off using the enter button.

If the menu that comes up is the "autosearch" one, then do it.
Anytime you access the service menu on this model, at the next
power-up, it will ask you to do autosearch, and will continue asking
you to do it until you indeed do.
I don't hold out much hope that this will make your "video" display
go away, but it should explain the default to an on screen menu at
power up.
I don't have a clue as to why "video" stays on the screen, when you
have a valid input signal. Sorry.
