Home stereo problem...my home theatre amp (Yamaha RXV495) was acting up,
cutting out and shutting down even at very low volumes. I noticed one of
the mains (speaker) had a loose wiring connection. I disconnected then
reconnected all of the speakers. Now it doesn't cut out but the balance,
treble, and bass knobs don't function although the preset soundfield modes
(Pro Logic, sports, disco, etc.) still function. What did I do to my poor
amp? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think I would recheck that the speakers are connected properly, especially
observing positive and negative polarity to avoid an "out-of-phase"
condition.
