Yamaha AVC-50 preamp schematic?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a schematic for a Yamaha surround sound
preamp and video processor? This neat unit dates from the 80's and I'd really
like to get it going again. I have two problems. First, some of the audio
inputs are messed up. The LC4966 input drivers are the likely culprits. Other
audio inputs work fine. Most important, the IR receiver appears to be dead.
Is it the photodiode or the IR preamp? Any idea on where to find parts for
this unit? Any help is appreciated!

I believe you are on a "Roll"...
The AVC50 was a very good "1st" generation A/V Integrated amp..
I have replaced the LC4966 ICs for the problem you described.
I believe you can use a standard type 4066 cmos switch if you make sure the
power supply voltages
for the IC you pick are rated at least as high as the original IC's
ALSO install sockets. It will make your life a lot easier WHEN they fail
again!
Here's a link to the original Sanyo specs...

If worse comes to worse I could probably locate and scan the schematic for
you.
Let me know...

Hi Dave,
Thanks for sharing your experience with this unit. I'll try to find the 4966
switchers. I'm still stuck on the IR receiver though. I don't even know what
frequency it is. Did you have a source for the schematic? Thanks again for
your help.
Dave
