XILINX FPGA project

I am required to design and demonastrate a project incorporating the XILINX
Field Programmable Gate Array Board already assembled by Digilent Inc. The
circuit will require some extra components other than the XILINK chip but as
our knowledge is not in the advanced stages of PLA's yet, the project will
not need to be overly complex. Any ideas, pointers or common industry
practice for implementing the use of a FPGA to utilize and demonstrate its
benefits would be welcomed - just a point in the right direction.....

Dave,
One of our students did design, quite a lkong time ago btw, a set of
traffic lights. Het took two crossing roads with cycle paths and made a
very simple traffic light construction with 3 leds (green yellow and red
for the traffic lights and a push button for car indication or cycle
indication.

Maybe this helps.
Cees.

Which Australian uni are you at ?

Well for starters look at the xilinx reference designs for the chip your board is using.
Digilent D2E board ?

Looked at the digilent reference design on their webpage for the board your getting ?

also opencores.org (maybe a bit advanced ?)

also the examples projects that come with the xilinx webpack.
