Here's 7 for cheap...you should be able to make 1 unit from 7.

I am not the seller, so this is not an ad.

Hopefully, you can build one that has the Samsung drive and the silver/white
Seagate drive.

The black Seagate drives are slower and the Western Digital drives are two gigs
less in capacity.

The Samsung drives will read just about anything and are the most reliable.
The Philips drives are okay, but they can't read anything except regular CDs
and DVDs. The Thomson drives are the worst as they can't read anything but
regular discs and have terrible reliability.

One tip: to increase data rate speeds, replace the stock 40 conductor IDE cable
that is used and install an 80 conductor UDMA cable in its place with all 80
conductors intact (this means no broken lines, typically used for slave/master
identification). The drives are set for "cable select," which means the X-Box,
not the jumper settings on the drives, makes the determination of which drive
is master and slave in the IDE/UDMA chain. - Reinhart

IIRC even with the newer larger drives, you still get the same amount of
space, the extra is simply wasted. This is done to prevent hardware
compatibility issues between older and newer revision boxes.

Well technically, it's the cable that decides. The master/slave
relationship gets determined by which connector is used.

So the seller thinks it's probably just fuses, which he's replaced
before, and he's selling them? My guess is that these are the units
that keep blowing fuses, and all he knows how to fix is blown fuses.

Wow thanks guys ... i would be afraid the ebay parts would be bad too ?
& dont plan on fixing these or want one for myself to have that many
parts around .
This xbox belongs to a pawn shop who asked me to check it out . I
normally work on tv , vcr , stereo , dvd , type stuff . Only took apart
3 of these xboxes .

It has a samsung disc player in it .... i thought samsung was junk ? ...
anyway the supply got water under it and caused black fry spots and an
IC chip on top to blow out black soot .
I took the other big mother board out for a look and it did not get wet
& looks shiney new but i still wonder if i got surged when the supply
went nuts ??
