I need a lcd display with a USB port for a project. I would make one, but I
don't have time. POS display will be suitable. If anyone could point me in
the right direction I would be very grateful. An australian distributer
would be preferred.

USB doesn't usually come with a LC display. There has to be a host
controller.

You could try one of the SBCs from Amtex in Sydney. www.amtex.com.au
ECM-3610 in a 3.5" FDD form factor.

I think you missed my point. I want a 16*2 or similar character display that
will connect via USB to a PC. In fact, i dont really care what size it is,
so long as it has a USB interface. Something like those pole displays that
they use for cash registers, except with USB port as opposed to serial. I
would even be happy with a OEM LCD module with a USB interface tacked onto
the back.

Ahh, so that's what you wanted.

There seem to be 2 main players in the LCD USB market. Crystalfontz
and Matrix Orbital. Crystalfontz ship direct, and don't have any
distributors, consequently their prices are a bit cheaper.

Thanks for that link. I checked it out but their vb script is throwing an
unhandled exception, probably cause I have vb scripting removed from my pc.
Crazy, you think they would handle any exceptions and throw up some plain
html - nevermind. I'll email them for some details. thanks again
