WTB: Rugged industrial dot matrix printer

I am searching for a fairly rugged printer for a bitumen plant. Has to be
dot matrix and must accept plain paper.
If anyone has any suggestions or pointers It would be most appreciated. So
far the Epson stuff is looking good, i am just a little worried that it may
not last.

Sounds like you would just have to accept buying replacements anyway.

The NEC 5200/5300/6200/6300 models are rather good. I am seeing a number
turn up at a local recycler. I still have my 5200 in operation. So might
be worthwhile also considering.

That is what I am trying to avoid.

The NEC 5200/5300/6200/6300 models are rather good. I am seeing a number

be worthwhile also considering.

NEC seems to have discontinued there dotmatrix printers.

OkiData printers are by far the best and (in some models) the fastest,
theres even a model where the print head floats (maglev) and even has bullet
proof plastic for a sheild to protect the user if the unit shits a print
pin -

Thanks, i'll check them out. I think the maglev version may be an overkill
though. It will probably only be used to pring 20-40 pages per day, and only
about 4 lines per page.

We package Epson dotmatrix printers with our product which goes into garages
and tyre stores. The printers get covered in filth and dust, but when they
do fail, it is usually because of a circuit fault, not dirt. The Epsons are
a decent product with no major design faults.
