WTB: 19" rack brackets

Guest
I am looking for the metal brackets that go down the sides (front & back) of
a 19" rack and things like patch panels, etc attach to them with bolts and
screws. They are 'L' shaped so that the brackets can be attached to the rack
casing itself and then the patch panels are attached to the other side of
the 'L'.

I need 2 that are 860mm long. Happy to take one length of 1720mm or longer.

Anyone have 2 of these or know where I could get them cheap?

Thanks,

This looks to be the same stuff as Altronics in Perth sell.
If it is, be careful, as some rack equipment is too wide for the rack - I
have some Tandberg video conferencing equipment that won't fit.

*** It is probable that the Tandberg rack mounted equipment is
manufactured to the metric standards and will not fit the "standard" 19
inch imperial racks.

Thanks for that. I am 10 minutes from them :) The Angle Rack Strip is
exactly what I am after.

I have sent them an email and will see how I go.

So is this a case of "when is 19" not 19"?
The Tandberg with rack mounts is 447mm wide. The rack frame is 446mm
between the two uprights. Whereas my 45ru computer rack is 452 mm. It
could the that additional metal is required to provide the strength for the
aluminium strip, whereas the steel is stronger, therefore less metal is
needed?

**** Rod there are two seperate and distinct systems of "racking",the
metric and imperial systems are they are not compatiable. There is not a
great deal of metric racking in Australia as the original PMG,DCA etc.
racking systems were all based on the US 19 inch system.
One method of determining which system you have is to measure from the
centre of a mounting hole on one side of the rack to the centre of the
corresponding hole on the opposite side of the rack.If the rack is
imperial, the distance from centre to centre will be eighteen and one
quarter inches.
Another method is to measure the front panel of the equipment to be
mounted,if imperial it will be nineteen inches from edge to edge and its
height will be one and three quarter inches or a multiple thereof.
I recommend you try to avoid using metrics as the measuring system when
dealing with old imperial systems as it will only confuse you (I know it
does to me).

As an aside,if anyone could provide me with a detailed set of the 19"
racking system specifications I would be eternally grateful.I had it
once but have misplaced it.Google throws up all sorts of red herrings
but not a concise set of specs.I would also appreciate the same thing
for the metric system.

Not sure if that's a swear word or term of endearment, but I'll take it as
positive ;-)

I've noted that down.
