Worth it to repair Tek 465 scope?

The primary AC fuse on my old 465 keeps blowing, heard this might be related
to bad rectifiers or caps in the P/S. I don't know if it pays to have a
local shop diagnose and repair it, especially since I've seen working 465's
selling on Ebay for $200-$250. Any thoughts would be appreciated. --- John

Don't know about a local shop, but I'd advise you ta have a quick look
yourself. A visual inspection might tell you if you have a really bad
cap that's already leaking, next use a multimeter to check for too
much AC present across the big caps.

And yes, it is worth it, because you might by one from eBay for $200
and run into the same problem again shortly - they are the same age as
yours.

I'd get out my DMM and ohm the rectifiers for shorts. Not that hard to
do,and easy and economical to replace a bad one.And looking for leaking
electrolytics is not too hard,either.

After all,you know the basic condition of your scope;what you get off Ebay
will be an unknown for some time, until it proves itself.

Definitly hold onto it and consider fixing it, parts such as the CRT are
very difficult to find.
