Any lurkers here live near Woburn/Burlington, MA?

I love to cook with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

Within convenient driving distance to the bar in the Marriott, 1 Mall
Road, Burlington.

(I never venture forth in places where it snows... COLD is very bad
for a desert rat ;-)
OK.

Ah well. I'm there on that day and the day after. But *several* hundred miles
away.

That's only a few miles from where I live, are you talking about
next Thursday the 9th? I'd love to raise a few with you (now
that I've lost interest in politics, which is a disaster anyway).
Too bad it's the 9th tho, I've already got two afternoon/evening
meetings scheduled that day, but perhaps there can be a little
pushing things around to make them fit.

And maybe we can scare up a few other local denizens?

(I never venture forth in places where it snows... COLD is very

Hard to say now what Boston's weather will be next Thursday.

I'm well familiar with the place, about 15mins from my home
and less than 10mins from my employer (ADI). Next R might
be tough, couldn't even get there until nearly 9pm. Pls keep
us posted!

To reply by email interchange the numeral zero and the first
letter "o" in my posting address.

Why would you want to "raise a few" with someone who helped perpetuate
the worst disaster in US political history? You and some other mindless
"escapists" around here may have "lost interest" but that does not
change the reality that the US is spending $300,000,000.00 **per day**
on average to perpetuate the worst nightmare in the history of modern
warfare. What I would like to know is what kind of moronic godammed
trash completely ignore all this 24/7 death and destruction, helped
along by the worthless and corrupt US pseudo-press that suppresses and
sanitizes the details, and indulge themselves in this vacuous
pseudo-holiday garbage with bowl games, worthless commercialism, and
trumped up seasonal nostalgia? As far as I'm concerned, the US press
should front page every bit of the dismembered and burned bodies being
eaten by scavenger dogs front page- every single damned day- until you
idiots go insane and become physically ill. This is the world the
majority of US morons wanted, so this is the world that should be shoved
down their throats- without end.

Democracy may have been perfected now:

--H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920

"When a candidate for public office faces the voters he does not face men of
sense; he faces a mob of men whose chief distinguishing mark is that they are
quite incapable of weighing ideas, or even of comprehending any save the most
elemental -- men whose whole thinking is done in terms of emotion, and whose
dominant emotion is dread of what they cannot understand.

"So confronted, the candidate must either bark with the pack, or count himself
lost. His one aim is to disarm suspicion, to arouse confidence in his orthodoxy,
to avoid challenge. If he is a man of convictions, of enthusiasm, or
self-respect, it is cruelly hard.

"The larger the mob, the harder the test. In small areas, before small
electorates, a first rate man occasionally fights his way through, carrying even
a mob with him by the force of his personality. But when the field is
nationwide, and the fight must be waged chiefly at second or third hand, and the
force of personality cannot so readily make itself felt, then all the odds are
on the man who is, intrinsically the most devious and mediocre -- the man who
can most adeptly disperse the notion that his mind is a virtual vacuum.

"The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is
perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the
people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain
folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last, and the White House
will be adorned by a downright moron."

Not much, it seems. ;)

to get it good and hard."

Nah. They're both all bluster. Oh, I'm sure Jim and co. will have a very
good time tipping back a few, but I predict that Fred won't bother to
spend the airplane fare just to go politicize in front of real men.
If Fred would come I'm sure we'd all have a good time and be better
off for it. We can go off into a corner and have at it, along with
some mandatory alchohol-inspired hilarity. I'll need Fred there to
back me up against all the s.e.d. rednecks who show up. :>) Then
we can reminisce about boki, news2020, and all the other blokes...

The swaggering moron will most likely start a nuclear war in the next
four years- then the Pig Blatherers and other self-serving takers will
finally get what they've got coming to them- it will be no loss when
they are gone.
Well, some of us blatherers hold out hope that we're not all doomed to
eternal death and destruction, thank you very much.

The British ones probably (we don't really know) aren't independent,
being US controlled.

But wait till Alabama gets the Bomb... (who's next?)

Well - Based on the assumption that Trident is the preferred delivery
vehicle, I foresee that "the dangerous end" of those weapons will be much
closer to the launch site than to the target. ;-))

Ermm...I guess I'm one of the lurkers in the area and I'm game to have

You really want to tip-a-few or you'd rather just talk politics?
