I'm looking for a way to remotely measure the depth of the water in a
cistern that's about 250 feet away from the house without running a
wire across the road between them. They share a power transformer, so
I'm either looking for something wireless or power-line that'll
transfer an analog signal from a pressure transducer or ultrasonic
depth (height) gauge. The water depth is on the order of 4 feet
maximum, if that matters...

Someone here must know of something! Thanks!

I'd use a transponder.
cork on a rope connected to a dial.
Shine a light on the dial. The dial responds by reflecting
the measurement.
High Tech ain't always required.
