why tran.tran.dat file is so big

I am running long transient simulation on an extracted schematic.
I am saving only scalars of just few needed outputs, but yet I have disk space issues due to large tran.tran.dat file. any Ideas?
the tran.tran file is resonable.
thanks

How did you tell Cadence to save 'just a few outputs'? Did you tell it first of all you want Selected Saving? You should. Also make sure you tell it first of all you want Selected Saving of Currents too.

Only after these two are told to it, then you can save the needed outputs.

of course I did that. only selected is marked for nets and none is selected for currents. I am familiar with correct savings for multiple corner simulations. I only not sure about the tran.tran.dat purpose.

I think tran.tran.dat file is the main transient simulation data file. Maybe it is good if you use Results Browser and try to plot an output you DON'T NEED. If it is there, then you know you are STILL saving unnecessary data.

My personal experience is every time I got a huge tran.tran.dat file, it was due to not correctly saving what I really needed and ended up saving too much.
