Hello all,

I am trying to compile a hit list of stores (online/real world) that will
sell small quantities of SMD parts to 'Bruce Public'. At the moment I'll be
a bit vague on what actual parts, if anything the 'typical' hobbyist parts
(if there is such a description).

The list at the moment reads as follows
Jaycar
WES
Futurlec
ebay

Thus far ebay prices are far better than the 'actual stores' with futurlec
the best of the stores.

Anyone have any others....

Cheers

Mike

You can add Altronics to your list www.altronics.com.au
They have retail outlets in Perth and Sydney.

Cheers,
Alan

These may be more specialised than what you require, but it would be a handy list.
They all take credit cards.

Free samples can be obtained from some manufacturers. Typically Maxim,
Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, etc.

A wide variety of components that aren't readily available unless you have accounts
with various distributors in Australia can be obtained from
www.digikey.com
www.mouser.com
www.newark.com is associated with Farnell I think, but may have stuff that FEC don't normally stock.

Cheap inductor kits can be obtained from
www.coilcraft.com

www.minicircuits.com is also useful to know if you want RF components. Clarke and Severn in Sydney
are the local agents.

www.mini-kits.com.au in South Australia is handy. Also for RF kits and components.

www.volt.com.au I don't have any experience with this mob, they may be ok.

Check out the monthly specials at Rockby www.rockby.com.au Currently they've got a
cheap LCD touchscreen.

www.computronics.com.au have a variety of components, LC displays, soldering gear, etc.

www.mektronics.com.au sell via visa card. They've got soldering gear and accessories.
They sell Hakko amongst other items.

Try www.ebay.com and have a look for Metcal soldering stations. They're always being sold
there for typically US$200 - $400. Really good price for one of the best soldering iron systems
available, as I understand. I use Hakko at home and work though which are still pretty good for
my purposes.

www.crystalfonz.com for LC displays.

http://store.earthlcd.com for the largest selection of LC displays.

www.olimex.com for cheap pcbs, development boards for MSP430, AVR, ARM and PIC microcontrollers.

www.dontronics.com for a wide variety of items, software and hardware and micros.

http://www.hammondmfg.com/ for metal and plastic enclosures

www.tenrod.com.au sell displays, liquid crystal, vacuum fluorescent and light-emitting diode type,
amongst many other items,

www.crusader.com.au for various chips from manufacturers such as Micronas (MP3 chips)
