I have a lead-calcium gell cell that has several shorted cells and won't
take a charge. How should I dispose of it?

Take it to the dump-it site.

Are you buying a replacement battery? If so, will the seller
take the old one for recycling?

If it's a lead-acid battery, do NOT throw it in the trash. That is
illegal. You should be able to bring it to any place you would bring in an
auto battery for recycling. Check local auto garages and repair places.

No it's just one I had lying around, and it laid around way too long and now
it's junk. I'll try the autoparts store first and if they won't take it I'll
try radio shack as someone else suggested.

Since Wal-Mart sells toys powered by LA batteries and also sells
replacements,I believe they are required to accept the old ones for
recycling. They also recycle car battery exchange cores.

Have you tried places that sell car batteries?

I haven't tried anything yet, that's why I was asking, I didn't wanna waste
my time driving around if they wouldn't take them.
