Where to find pin headers/plugs for motherboard fans

Hello,

I'm a bit of a tinkerer and definately not an expert. I can handle
Radio Shack fine, but they don't have these. I'm trying to find out
where to look for a seemingly common component, the pin headers that you
plug a CPU fan into on a motherboard. It's a 3 pin connector with
power, ground, and speed monitor. Both headers and plugs would be nice.

Similarly, the pin headers that are used for things like the power
switch, reset button, hdd led switch, etc...

Where does one find such things?

Thanks

It's been a while since I've looked at a motherboard, but if they are
still 25 mil square posts on 100 mil centers they're as common as dirt,
and you can get them from Digi-Key -- you'll need to pick through the
options, but that's your job.

Most computer shops will have a junkbox full of dead motherboards
that they throw out when the box is full. Check them out!!

For the board mount, you want header with pins on 0.1" centers. These
are very common. I get new ones at <www.allelectronics.com> Get
*snappable* headers; you can crack off the number of pins you need.

Connectors to mate with the above headers: I never buy new because I
have quite a collection of them taken from discarded PCs. They even
already have wires attached. :)
