Where to buy such wires?

Hi, does anyone know where in the U.S. can I buy a pair of jumper wires
about 18 inch long (twisted around each other) with a shorting block at each
end? It looks similar to the one in the following picture except that I
want both ends to have shorting blocks:

http://www.addtronics.com/gif/DTSW.jpg

Digikey says they don't have it. I need twenty of these, so I would
appreciate not having to make them myself. Thanks

What do you mean by "shorting blocks"?

In the photo the thing on the end of the leads is a connector.

I does look a little like a jumper but it's not. It does not short two pins
together; it connects them individually to the two wires.

Sorry, it must be Monday. I don't really mean "shorting blocks" (aka
"jumpers") at all. I need the two wires to be separate conductors. So the
thingies at both ends are two-position connectors.

Thanks for pointing out my oversight, Brian. Yes, I meant "connectors", not

Next set of quiestions:

1. What size wire do you want?

2. What contact separation (pitch) do you want? 0.1"?

3. What are they going to plug onto? Standard 0.025" square headers
on 0.1" centers?

1. solid twisted pair; any gauge from 20 to 24 AWG should be fine.
2. Yes, 0.1" between centers.
3. Plug into 0.1" male headers, and "yes" (such as Jameco #108337CH).

If you can go with stranded I can make them up for you for $5 each.

I'm thinking more like $1 each max, which is comparable to what Addtronics
charges for their green LED:

go to an RC hobby store and ask to see their servo exstension cables. might
do the trick

OK, then you'll have to buy 40 of them, cut the LEDs off of 20 of them
and the connectors off of the other 20, with enough wire wire left on
the connectors you cut off so you can splice them to the ends of the
cables with the LEDs cut off of them. Either that or find yourself a
source of pins and housings and fit them to ends of the cables with
the LEDs cut off.

Oh, but wait... You don't want to have to do any of the work.

Good luck.

What do you mean by "shorting blocks"?
Little 2-pin 0.1" header connectors that look like those little jumpers,
but have wires in them instead of the short.

If it was me, I'd just make them - it'd be quicker than trying to track
down something like that and much, much cheaper than having them custom-
made. But I have a crimper. :)

Cheers!

For jumpers, use stranded wire. Solid will break after just a little
bit of manhanling.

Good Luck!
