Where does HP live on the net?

I have some old HP test gear such as VTVMs and some telco test gear. I
did some
searches to look for schematics and manuals but didn't see much. Is
there anyplace on the net that HP lives and supports any of thier test
gear? Any HP sites I found only supported computers and printers and
such. Thanks for any pointers.

HP spun off their test equipment operation a couple of years ago to focus
exclusively on the low margin, commodity market of computers. The test
equipment folks are now Agilent technologies (www.agilent.com). Depending
on how old some of your stuff is, there might be manuals available on-line.

Agilent tends to have stuff available about as far back as the early 1990s.
Usually operations and service manuals. Most stuff earlier than that seems
to now be in a black hole. There are several sites that deal exclusively
with manuals (manualsplus for example) who may have originals or even good
copies available, but often the price for the manual is more than you paid
for the instrument.

There's lots of other good stuff on Agilent's site: white papers, technical
descriptions, and occasionally an assembly level repair manual. But beware -
they have no sense of humor when it comes to the prices they charge for
replacement parts. To their credit however, all the parts I've bought have
had 2-day shipping included, and even when they tell me that delivery is
expected in 6 weeks, I get the parts in 2 days.

The "real", "core" part of Hewlett-Packard was spun off as Agilent
a couple of years ago. Search there.

It is interesting that the Agilent stock (A $29.20) has traded far
ahead of the HP stock (HPQ $23.16). Quality will out.

As several other posters have pointed out, HP spun off their instrument
business as part of the formation of Agilent Corporation and if a recent
model, you should find information there.

However, for older HP instruments, a good source is E-Bay. Just search using
HP and the model number and you should find not only the model itself, but
also service manuals if you are patient enough. I have a number of HP
instruments and have managed over the past year to get service manuals and
even some parts and accessories for all of them, excepting my 200CDR
oscillator, from E-Bay sources.
